““Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts. They have put the stumbling block of their iniquity right before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?”
Ezekiel 14:3 TLV
Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s my shoes, but I’ve discovered a new skill recently – the skill of tripping over nothing. And no, I’m not kidding. Thankfully I stay upright, but I sure feel funny when my arms flail for no good reason.
But when we trip – physically – over something we CAN see, we become more mindful to the steps that follow, paying closer attention to where we walk so we can avoid a hazard.
Like we are attentive to physical stumbling blocks, we must likewise be attentive to spiritual stumbling blocks. It is the very reason I am not on social media personally- I began to recognize the impact it was having on my heart and emotional well-being.
Each one of us have different triggers – different “stumbling blocks” that trip us up, causing us to fail or fall before Him. I’m not suggesting social media is a problem for everyone, but I am suggesting that there are stumbling blocks all around us – the question is: are we paying attention?
Anything that steals my affection and turns my focus away from Adonai is a stumbling block. May I have wisdom in the way I walk and eyes to see the stumbling blocks in my way.
Less of me. All for Him.
Father – thank You for Your mercy and Your Word. Thank You for how You lovingly convict me. Give me eyes to see the things vying for my affection. All of You. Less of me. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
