““Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him…”
Joel 2:12-14 NKJV
There are a few people on our recurring prayer list that have seemingly hopeless situations. But as I was meditating on the beauty of today’s passage, I was filled with hope.
A minor prophet, Joel’s prophecies speak of the coming judgement that was to precede the Second Coming of the Savior, specially how His spirit would be lavishly and abundantly be poured out on all people. The coming restoration of the Lord is a reason to celebrate!
Here’s the thing – it’s never too late. Never. It may seem hopeless but G-d is in the business of restoration.
That relationship? G-d can mend it. That physical ailment? He can heal that too. The broken dream that tears at your heart? Yes, even that. And, not only CAN He and WILL He, but, He DESIRES to.
Who knows what G-d will do if we keep pressing, keep believing, keep asking. No prayer is wasted. No fast is meaningless. No tear hidden.
He sees all of it and more. Who knows what He will do next? It’s greater than I can think , hope, or imagine.
Father – thank You for Your Word and grace. Thank You for hope. Thank You for how You restore. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
