Thus Job did regularly…Thus we shall too

“So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.”

‭‭Job‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Most parents share a common experience: worry.

For me, I’ve been guilty of worrying about my kids – specifically that they may do something that is not honoring to the Lord.

What a relief to know I’m not alone! Job didn’t control his children. However, he did set an example. On a regular basis he prayed for his children and “offered sacrifices” for them – IN FRONT OF THEM! His children had a living testimony and example of what it looked like to call upon God. They witnessed true intercession.

Ouch. Perspective.

While we speak a blessing over them most nights and pray for them daily, I’m not modeling that type of intercession on a regular basis. Sure, they overhear us in the other room and we pray over them at different times – however, I have not been intentional. I wonder what a difference it would make to hear their hearts and wage war in the heavens over them IN their presence?

Father forgive me for being lax in my duties. I hear the conviction of the Spirit. Give me wisdom to know how to present my children before you with more intention and purpose. I know the enemy will come against me. Make a way. I ask for your help. Amen.
