The Perfect Revelation of The Lord

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19:1-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As I’ve blogged this year, it’s quite unlike me to select a full chapter. However – the title of the chapter is what caught my attention today – The Perfect Revelation of Lord.

One doesn’t have to look far to SEE that there is a Higher Power – One who created and rules the universe. He reveals Himself from the rising of the sun to the setting of the same. His majesty is all around us if we’ll only lift up our eyes and look.

Since moving to the country with my parents, I’ve started to understand why they love it here and why my mother designed her sun room with windows all around – the sunsets here are majestic. Daily we see evidence of His hand in the colors in the sky and the stars that shine at night. Grand and glorious is He – even more that I can see, think, or imagine.

Living here and working on my parent’s property has made me open my eyes a little bigger and pause a little longer at the evidence of G-d literally all around me. The last verse of Psalms 19 encourages the reader to make the words of their mouth and the “meditation” of their hearts acceptable to G-d. The Hebrew word here for meditation is higāyôn and is used only 4 times in the Old Testament.

While I often think of meditation as something quiet and reflective, the meaning here is a murmuring, musing, or even a resounding song. There’s something about SEEING His majesty in nature that inspires a song to rise in the hearts of man. We can’t help but praise Him! Perhaps the answer to a discouraged heart is in part getting outside and being in nature.

May my eyes be open to behold and see Him all around me, and may the answering sound that arises from my heart through my mouth be a pleasing sound to Him.

Father – thank You for the beauty You’ve surrounded me with in this season. You know the battle and longing in my heart. Help me to see You around me that I might praise You and not be silent. Amen.
