“Now Samuel did not yet know [or personally experience] the Lord, and the word of the Lord was not yet revealed [directly] to him. So the Lord called Samuel a third time. And he stood and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you did call me.” Then Eli understood that it was the Lord [who was] calling the boy. So Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down, and it shall be that if He calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. Then the Lord came and stood and called as at the previous times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.””
1 Samuel 3:7-10 AMP
I still remember when I first began to hear the voice of the Lord, when He began to reveal His voice to me and I experienced the sound of Him. His whisper would awaken me at night and guide me during the day. As a Believer, it’s the most important sound to me. And, as a parent, my deepest desire for my children is that they would come to know and experience His voice for themselves.
Today, my heart is raw after a late night working with colleagues to support a critical situation. Everyone is fine praise the Lord. But as I was reading and meditating today, trying to come up with fresh words for today, and struggling, I heard the sound I love the most and G-d graciously whispered to my heart, “look… go look what I prepared before for this moment”.
Almost 4 years ago, I posted a blog about this very topic and while my flesh tells me I’m cheating, my G-d tells me He loves me and I’m writing for Him, being obedient to Him first, and laying down a spirit of performance. Today, His voice humbles and undoes me.
My hope for my children, family, and friends is that we would all know His voice. There is no sweeter sound. May “Be careful little ears” bless and your home today:

Father – I am undone at how You love me and prepare a way for me. You are good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
