Make Me A Runway

“Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].”

‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I saw a reel yesterday on Instagram that I immediately reposted because it spoke such depth to me. I posted the link below but here’s a portion of what he said: “This has been my posture most days … just as a prophetic act and also a real feeling that I just need to be on my face so G-d has something to land on…Give G-d a runway to land on… come take over…” The posture is one of humility – completely laying down, physically going lower. But until this reel, I never thought of humility as a “runway G-d could land on.” That’s a powerful truth! When I get out of the way, G-d can do amazing things.

The Greek word for the phrase “humble yourself” is tapeinoō – meaning to bring down one’s pride, to behave in an unassuming manner, and to have a modest opinion of one’s self. When I first read the word I thought it sounded like “tap down” – tap down your expectations and demands, tap down your pride and assumptions. Just go low – like the tapping of a hammer drives a nail flush with wood, so the tapping of my flesh makes me flush with His will and His presence. Or, as the Pastor said in the video below, it gives Him a runway on which to land.

More of Him. Less of me. In all things.
