“Light is sown [like seed] for the righteous and illuminates their path, And [irrepressible] joy [is spread] for the upright in heart [who delight in His favor and protection].”
Psalms 97:11 AMP
What a beautiful and interesting thought – that Light is sown like a seed….seeds that are planted, hidden from view, until one day they bloom, bearing fruit of the life hidden within it’s tiny being. Some seeds sprout quickly – some slowly. Some only once – some over and over again. But they grow, they brighten the path, and those who see them delight.
Today’s verse reminds me of our season in Versailles, KY. The woman that lived in our home prior to us had quite the green thumb. She had rose bushes galore and landscaping lovely crafted by her own hands. But most of her work was hidden from view until we lived there several months. Each season was like opening a gift as new flowers randomly appeared around the property.
That’s how His Light in my heart is. As I open His Word and spend time with Him, the seeds of His truth are planted in my life, and when His truth grows in me, it spreads hope. It’s the cycle of things. A seed dies. A seed is planted. A seed is watered and tended. A seed grows. A seed reproduces.
His light is all around me. It’s up to me to prepare the soil of my heart through worship, praise, prayer, communion, and forgiveness so His truth can be take root and grow within me.
Father – may You find my heart fertile soil for Your light. I feel like there’s so much here that you want to say and I just can’t grasp it. Open my heart to Your truth. You are good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
