“The Lord is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails, But the unjust knows no shame.”
Zephaniah 3:5 NKJV
There was a woman, unrighteous in her ways. She was rebellious and judgmental. She did not draw near to or trust in G-d. She did not listen to counsel when it came. Great calamity was in store for her (Zephaniah 3:1-4)
But G-d.
He stood as a righteous defender, speaking softly, drawing her away, until she finally turned and was redeemed by Him.
It’s the love story of every follower of Christ. Sinners, bound in darkness, far from Him, yet pursued, redeemed, and freed from a life of destruction.
He stands. Calling. Waiting. Intervening even. And all we have to do is turn to Him to be saved.
How long will He be ignored by the World? How long until we, His followers, realize we are no longer bound? When will we walk in the freedom He has for us?
Zephaniah is a book of judgement and hope. G-d will judge the evil in the world, yet, there is great hope in His unfailing love. May we turn to Him while there is still time and find the hope and love He so freely offers us:
“Sing, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! The Lord has taken away your judgments, ..The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; … The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One {the Warrior King} will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.””
Zephaniah 3:14-17 NKJV
Father – thank You that You do not give up on me. Thank You for pursuing and forgiving me. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
