“Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.”… And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.”
I Chronicles 28:10, 20 NKJV
David is passing his mantle to his son Solomon. David lays out both the succession plan and the provisions as set forth by the Lord. Then David charges Solomon to “be strong and DO IT.” When I read that phrase this morning, it jumped off the page at me. I could hear the Holy Spirit lovingly whisper to me DO IT!!!
Do what? Well – that’s a great question! Whatever He has chosen me and you to do. I saw this verse in my minds eye written this way:
“Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to {INSERT CALLING} for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.”
He has placed unique gifts and callings inside each of us. He placed us each in different spheres of influence. He gives us different passions and longings for the Kingdom. For me, it’s to write and one day speak / preach. I long to inspire and encourage the Body of Christ – specifically moms and families. I long to share all He’s done for me. I have words in me that PRESS against my heart and long to be released. Some days I feel I’ll burst! Today I heard Him say – BE STRONG AND DO IT!
I don’t know what that looks like so I’ll be faithful where He’s called me with what He’s given me and put in my heart to do – such as write devotionals this year. I’ll risk sharing my heart – like I am now. I’ll take a risk. I’ll be uncomfortable. I’ll do hard things. I’ll be strong – and when He opens the door- I’ll do it for Him and Him alone.
What’s the thing He’s calling You to today? I’d love for you to share below so I can pray for you.
Be strong – and do it.
Father – thank You for Your Word and Your love. Thank You for encouraging me today. Give me courage to do the thing and wisdom to know which opportunities are from You. May I please You alone. You are good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
