“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, And the Lord listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the Lord And who meditate on His name. “They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.””
Malachi 3:16-17 NKJV
I’ll never forget the day Randal told me he saw his name written in a book G-d was holding. He was almost 3, and he said that G-d showed pointed to his name, Vance Randal Purtell Jr. I was at a loss for words.
Just a couple of weeks before that night, Randal became insistent that he needed Jesus to come live in his heart. He was young and we had no idea if he even understood what it meant. Two weeks later, Randal shared the above vision with us. I knew in that moment that G-d can and DID speak to children. It was a moment I’ll never forget.
I don’t know if “the book of remembrance” is the same as the book of life. I don’t know how many volumes He has and what is written on the pages. But, I know He sees me and He loves me. I know He has my name recorded. I have no doubt He’s recorded my tears. I have confidence He knows every part of me – both hidden and seen – and accepts me completely because Jesus is my covering.
The world may not see me and people may reject me, but at the end of my life, it only matters if He knows my name. For those of us that call upon Yeshua as Savior, fearing Him – or looking to Him with awe and reverence – and meditate on Him, He will remember us. The hard times are defining and shaping us into beautiful jewels that will adorn Him. Rest assured you are seen, loved, and known by name.
Father – thank You for Your Word that You open to me day after day. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted.
