In Its Time

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Moreover, He has set eternity in their heart—yet without the possibility that humankind can ever discover the work that God has done from the beginning to the end.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Yesterday Alathia and I went to pick blueberries. It’s a long-standing family tradition that we were happy to return to when we came home.

As we searched for ripe berries – preferably the big ones, I happened upon a cluster of berries at various stages of ripeness. This verse reminds me of that photo. Each berry is brought to ripeness at a different time. Some mature faster than others – and are picked first. Some are small and others large. And still some remain on the vine a while longer. But regardless of the stage or the color – they all have the same likeness – all of them are unmistakably blueberries.

Our journey in Christ is like that. He takes each of us on a unique path. Some seem to show beauty early – some show much later. But to those who have trusted in Him for salvation, we are all carriers of eternity. Whether we find ourselves in a season of hiddenness or a season of openness, may we never lose hope. He makes you and I “beautiful” in His time, not ours. It’s His promise to us.

Father – thank You for Your truth and Your Word that gives life. Thank You for the season You have me in and to the way You lead me through. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
