‬‬ “For David said, “The Lord God of Israel, has given peace and rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭23:25‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I was asked recently where I’d want to go on a dream vacation. I quickly replied: Old Jerusalem- I just want to rest within the Walls. No tourist sites – just rest.  There’s just something about Jerusalem that makes it the most special place on earth – the presence of G-d. The promise of the Lord to give His people rest still stands today as is His presence over and in Israel. 

This morning as words fail and grief is heavy, I’m reminded that our only hope is found in Him. We desperately need Him to heal our land. We desperately need His presence. We desperately need revival. Only when He comes and hearts return to Him will true healing come. 

He promises His people rest, and while He does dwell in Jerusalem, He also dwells in you and me today. May we be His hands and feet. May we love like Jesus. May we turn our hearts away from sin and seek His face. May our collective cries turn His gaze upon us today. 

Father – our hearts grieve for Uvalde. Heal our land. Father I turn from sin. Convict me of what’s not pleasing to you so that I may repent and be healed. Have mercy on Your people today. We need You. Desperately. You are good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
