“But I am poor and needy; Yet the Lord thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.”
Psalms 40:17 NKJV
This verse holds a special place in my heart. It might be the first I memorized – I can’t remember – but I do remember quoting it over and over during my most broken season.
The more I quoted it the more it transformed my heart – G-d thinks upon ME – He ḥāšaḇ me. He considers me, He is mindful of me, He esteems, regards, and values ME- ME, one who was broken, discarded, and abused. One who was judged by Christians for my past. They may have thought ill of me but HE ḥāšaḇ ME! Even if no one else did – or does – He does.
Right now He is thinking about you and me. Right now He values and esteems us. Right now He considers us and is mindful of us. It’s a powerful reality.
No matter what I face, no matter what the world says, no matter if I’m alone or in a crowd – He holds me close in thought and mind, imagining a future for me far greater than I can imagine.
In His thoughts, I find great comfort and peace.
Father – Your love overwhelms me. Thank You for saving me from a dark, lost place. Thank you for loving me when I was unloveable. Thank You for redeeming me and setting my feet on a good path. You are good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
