Patient Endurance

For you have need of patient endurance [to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising], so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised.”

Hebrews 10:36 AMP

Our son leaves in a week for luthier school. He’s been talking about it and planning for it for almost 2 years. He experienced some delays because he didn’t have the finances together and was convicted to go debt free. So he kept working, kept saving, kept dreaming – and finally the time is here. Money is together and he’ll be debt free in the end. He had patiently endured the waiting with humor, grace, and peace.

Watching him these past months has been frustrating for me at times. I’ve judged his patience as lack of motivation and when in reality he’s just living his convictions. For example, he is deeply convicted that he is to remain debt free, and he remains steadfast and uncompromising. He’s not a perfect person – no one is – but he has more resolve and conviction at 20 than I do at times even today.

In six months, Lord willing, he’ll be a Master Luthier with no debt and on his way to apprentice with one of the best in the business. And as a result, he’ll be able to enjoy his accomplishments and have more freedom than most.

May Randal’s loving example of patient endurance be I can learn from and emulate in the days to come as I press on to accomplish all the G-d has put in my heart to do.

Father – help me to patiently endure the waiting. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
