“And I will give them one heart [a new heart], and put a new spirit within them. I will take from them the heart of stone, and will give them a heart of flesh [that is responsive to My touch], that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.”
Ezekiel 11:19-20 AMP
Have you ever had a bruised heel or a stubbed toe? It makes walking miserable. It hurts to wear a sock and shoes are excruciating. Tender feet are no joke.
It’s the image that comes to mind in today’s reading – a heart so tender to the things of G-d – to His Word, His presence, and His voice – that we walk cautiously and tenderly, almost limping because of the sensitivity.
We cannot follow G-d on our own. Our flesh is simply too weak. To be a follower of Him – a true follower committed to His presence and His ways- requires Divine intervention. We have to bend to His ways and His presence. Fortunately for us, when we receive Yeshua as Savior, Adonai changes our bent – He gives us a new heart – a heart responsive to His touch. May we be ever mindful to guard and protect ourselves from the things that seek to harden and jade us and may we remain forever sensitive to the slightest touch of His presence.
Father – thank You for Your Word and Your presence. Soften my heart to You and protect me from the lies that try to harden me. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
