“The Lord has brought about our vindication and has revealed the righteousness of our cause; Come and let us proclaim in Zion The work of the Lord our God!”
Jeremiah 51:10 AMP
In my option, one of the hardest things to do is to “stick with something” – a directive from G-d – that others do not understand. There have been numerous instances where Vance and I heard the voice of Adonai about a situation so we stood firm in that word even to the chagrin, judgement, and disagreement from those around us.
When we walk in obedience to the voice of G-d, it will most likely seem foolish to the world around us, but their opinion is not what matters. Adonai is after obedience – He’s looking for the heart He can fully trust no matter how foolish it seems. A friend felt G-d asking her to do something that seems so foolish in the world’s eyes but when pressed, obeying Him was more important than pleasing those around her.
Obedience is not easy – but it’s for our good. He could be positioning and protecting us from what is ahead. He could just be testing our hearts – will you do this foolish thing? After all, Abraham placed his son on an altar, what could be more foolish than that?
And in the end, on the other side of obedience, His pleasure and goodness await me. I don’t know the hard thing He’s asking of you, but if you’re like me, it feels uncomfortable. But when we KNOW His voice and have heard Him, know this: what He’s asking is part of His plan – plan to prosper and not to harm us, plans to give us a hope and a future, and plans to work out everything for our good.
Test His voice – does it bring peace? Does it align with His Word?
He’s asked me to do some foolish things and He’s never failed me yet. In the end, He wins.
Father – thank You for Your Word and mercy. Help those who are faced with a big ask – a step of obedience stretching their faith and bringing judgment. Help them find comfort in You. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
