Is it too small a thing?

“Indeed He says, ‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ””

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭49:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Is it too small a thing?” I heard the Lord ask me today. I was praying about some things on my heart that felt overwhelming – some specific things I have been wrestling with.

As I lay in the silence outside, just listening, He asked me this question – “is it too small a thing for Me?”

I didn’t respond. I just sat and meditated on all of the things I could think of that G-d has done for me personally. Then I read today’s reading through Isaiah about His suffering servant and His way for Gentiles to have a relationship with Him.

If He made a way for salvation, surely the obstacles before me are nothing. Surely He handle the worries of my heart. Surely He can accomplish the things I feel I’ve tried so hard to accomplish- yet I look at them now and only see and feel failure. Surely He can and He will do it because He’s always good, He’s all powerful, and He’s all knowing. Surely His plan is higher and better than mine.

Finally I answered, “No Lord. It’s not too hard, or too small a thing for you, but I am afraid,” to which He lovingly replies, “I know and that’s not too small for me either.”

Father – I am out of words. Thank You for loving me. You are good and You keep doing good. Your leadership in my life is perfect and You can be trusted. Amen.
